Let’s skip the fluff and get straight to the tech.
You don’t need to understand transformer models or prompt engineering to know that AI is changing the legal profession faster than BigLaw Knee Benders are losing talent. Whether you're solo, scaling, or sitting pretty at an AmLaw 100, here are twelve legal AI platforms you should know about.
The Big Dogs of Legal AI
1. Everlaw
Think cloud-native litigation meets sleek AI. It’s built for deep document review, predictive coding, and investigative analytics. If you look into this one, you better be ready to pony up the big bucks. But for litigation teams juggling terabytes of data? It’s gold.
2. CoCounsel (by Thomson Reuters)
Formerly Casetext, now owned by TR, and currently one of the most respected AI assistants in BigLaw. Research, drafting, contract analysis — it’s like having a hyper-efficient junior associate that doesn’t eat or bill.
3. Assembly Neos
Not just a case management tool — Neos uses AI to manage your entire document lifecycle. Smart templates, intelligent routing, and contextual automation. Even solos will love the pricing here!
Speech-to-Text & Dictation Darlings
4. Rev
Blends human and AI transcription for depositions, interviews, and client calls. High accuracy. No more slogging through playback at 0.75x speed.
5. iManage Work
Massive in midsize and BigLaw firms. Combines document management with baked-in AI that flags, tags, and organizes your legal chaos. If you're still naming docs “final_FINAL_version.docx,” this one's for you.
6. Google Cloud Speech-to-Text
It’s not legal-specific, but with scalable APIs and strong language recognition, it powers dictation in firms that like to tinker. Sorry about the jargon - API just means it can connect to and interact with your Clio, IManage, NetDocs etc. without needing weeks of love from a geek.
⚖AI Platforms That Do It All (Or Try To)
7. Cecilia AI (by Disco)
Tailored for litigation teams. It does doc review, intelligent Q&A, and investigation workflows. Basically the lovechild of a paralegal and ChatGPT after a Disco party.
8. Clearbrief AI
Drag-and-drop citations that actually link to accurate source material — no hallucinations. Plus, it builds out Tables of Authorities and Exhibits while you sip your coffee. The real MVP for brief writing.
9. Harvey AI
Backed by OpenAI and built to play nice with law firms. Contract review, research memos, clause comparisons — and all in plain English. Harvey’s the intern you never have to train twice. The very frikkin' expensive intern, that is!
10. Lexis AI
Lexis made their move. AI now integrated into their search, drafting, and analytics tools. If you already use Lexis, this is your next upgrade BUT be careful - I'm getting mixed reviews from my sources on this one.
11. ndMAX (by NetDocuments)
Think of it as “iManage with a mission.” It quietly handles doc workflows while subtly injecting AI suggestions. Minimalist, but mighty.
12. Clio Duo, LawGeex & Friends
Whether it’s Clio’s new AI copilot or LawGeex’s contract-spot-checking bot, these platforms are snapping up market share with a mix of speed, affordability, and practicality. Translation: They get stuff done.
Final Verdict
Whether you're defending clients, reviewing NDAs, or building a scalable virtual firm, AI’s no longer optional — it’s your new junior associate (minus the whining).
